The average of the 17 strategists predictions for year-end for the S&P 500 was 1,601.
Goldman Sachs expects the index to exceed 1900 by 2016 but says most of its valuation engines show the market is currently at or above fair value.
Birinyi Associates says 1,900 is well within reach and last week bought bullish options as sentiment remains subdued and nowhere near extremes.
Joseph Saluzzi at Themis Trading sees one big carry trade setting up a bigger and ugly correction a week or a year from now.
