Salient to Investors:

- In Phoenix, swimming pools outnumber solar panels by a thousand to one. Germany, with half the sunlight of Arizona, has four times as much solar power installed per capita. and 23 times more than the US.
- The primary reason for the renewable energy gulf between the US and Germany is policy. The United States once led the world in developing renewable energy. Reagan tossed aside Carter’s Solar Energy Research Institute as “solar socialism” and Germany bought up SERI-produced patents at fire-sale prices.
- Since 2009, 3,700 megawatts of solar power have been installed in the US, nearly twice the amount that existed in 2009. More wind power was added to the US electrical grid in the first three quarters of 2012 than the total generating capacity from wind just a decade ago.
- The percentage of our electricity generated by renewables (not including hydroelectric) has doubled yet is still just 6 percent versus 25 percent in Germany, whose goal is 80 percent by 2050.
