More health workers are choosing to stay at home.

Save the Children estimates the world is more than 3 million health workers short, including at least 1 million community nurses and doctors.

34 percent of doctors and 21 percent of nurses are foreign in New Zealand versus 27 percent of doctors and 5 percent of nurses in the U.S.

One in three Japanese will be over 65 by 2025, up from one in 4.4 in 2009. More than 40 percent will be at least 60 years old. Almost 35 percent of Europe will be 60 or older by 2050, versus 22 percent in 2009.
